The Start of this season has been so cold! Hopefully it will warm up now...
I grow some roses and hopefully with my new walled garden having clay soil they will grow more abundantly there but here on our sandy soil they struggle.....so I buy from a larger rose grower in Sussex called The Real Flower Company. They will be featured on Countryfile during British Flowers Week. They grow gorgeous scented garden roses which are so different from supermarket roses and totally in keeping with my garden flower weddings. Out of season they grow on their Fair Trade farm in Kenya and because of the cold start to the year, for the first time, my most recent weddings have included their Kenyan roses. Hooray the English roses start to be cut this week. Their roses are more expensive to buy but a totally different product to the roses available on the high street...this does make my rose weddings a little more expensive (the roses are more expensive and also their are minimum quantities and delivery charges etc) BUT the end product is truly worth it.
After a career in the Health Service and then time bringing up my family, I qualified as a florist and trained in horticulture. Developing a passion for growing and arranging British garden flowers, I planted a Suffolk cutting garden. Having become increasingly concerned about where and how flowers are grown coupled with a love of British flowers. I now specialise in growing and using beautiful British grown flowers to make artistic designs. for weddings, events and gifts.
