I am starting to gear up for Christmas. My wreath making workshops are filling up so if you want to come please let me know as soon as possible. I am also taking orders for jugs, jam jars and boxes of Christmas flowers....festive foliages and my forced Paperwhites along with other British grown flowers....these can be sent by post and make wonderful gifts.
At Somerleyton Hall as well as my workshops, I am decorating the two pubs on the estate both of which are open for Christmas lunch. There are also flowers and festive arrangements for the Hall and the woodland lodges at Fritton Lake. For sometime we have been collecting fir cones, coloured twigs, feathers and seed heads, and drying Hydrangeas to use along with our Holly, Ivy and evergreens in Christmas decorations. It is a lovely time of year to work on a country estate. At Somerleyton we have beautiful evergreen trees and lots of wonderful hedgerows and wilder parts of the garden where I can forage for lovely things to make wreaths and garlands. One of the glass houses is full of bulbs I am forcing for Christmas and the cold months of January and February until we are cutting in the Kitchen garden again! I think that glass house is going to be my favourite haunt this winter....
My story in flowers started as a child growing a tiny patch of London Pride Saxifraga...also known as Whimsey or Look Up and Kiss Me! Fast forward to 8 years ago when I started a City and Guilds training in floristry. I qualified as a florist and then to deepen my growing knowledge and skills I trained in horticulture as well. I trained under a WRAGS scheme at Darsham Nurseries and at Somerleyton Hall. Developing a passion for both growing and designing/arranging British garden flowers, I planted a cutting garden. Having become increasingly concerned about where and how flowers are grown, coupled with a love of British grown flowers. and natural styling, I now specialise in growing and using beautiful British grown flowers to make romantic natural designs. for weddings, events, gifts and much more.
