This weekend's wedding took place in a small country church in Suffolk. The bride had asked for a very natural floral scheme and daisies. I used a combination of wild and cultivated flowers including Fennel, Feverfew, Scabiosa,Nigella, Ox Eye Daisy and a cultivated Daisy, Cosmos, White Sweet Peas, Rosa Kent (which is a small white rose) and White Lavender. The pew ends where challenging as they didn't lend themselves to having anything attached, but with the Vicar's permission I pinned test tubes of flowers creating a delicate effect with all the different individual stems.
The bride had a bouquet made from Daisies, Alchemilla, Lavender and Nigella and a flower crown made from Ivy, Lavender and small florets of Hydrangea. The buttonholes were combinations of all the flowers used in the wedding and all different. I finished the bouquet and the buttonholes with raffia and white organza ribbon.
The church had long unmown grass except for a footpath and the grass contained a sprinkling of wildflowers which looked stunning. I wanted to continue this theme inside the church and for the wedding as awhole. The church had a special saint's day today so all the flowers were left for the congregation to enjoy.
This was a wonderful theme to work with and I hope the couple had a really special day.
My story in flowers started as a child growing a tiny patch of London Pride Saxifraga...also known as Whimsey or Look Up and Kiss Me! Fast forward to 8 years ago when I started a City and Guilds training in floristry. I qualified as a florist and then to deepen my growing knowledge and skills I trained in horticulture as well. I trained under a WRAGS scheme at Darsham Nurseries and at Somerleyton Hall. Developing a passion for both growing and designing/arranging British garden flowers, I planted a cutting garden. Having become increasingly concerned about where and how flowers are grown, coupled with a love of British grown flowers. and natural styling, I now specialise in growing and using beautiful British grown flowers to make romantic natural designs. for weddings, events, gifts and much more.
